Thank you for joining our Just Be Dance Academy Company teams. We are so excited to take our students dancing to another level! We have some fun and exciting things planned for our company dancers! Below is a breakdown of what to expect throughout the year. **Full Calendar and Schedule for the season will be given 1st day of class*

Students are required to attend all company classes and extra workshops. We understand that sometimes there are other important life commitments that come up that will require your child to miss a class, we ask that, if possible, you keep in mind our schedule and schedule other events such vacations, birthday parties, ect. at times that do not conflict with company commitments
**We encourage students not to miss many if any classes, especially the weeks leading up to a performance or competition. If a student misses 3 or more classes during the performance season they may be subject to be removed from the upcoming performance. This rule will apply to missed practices due to vacations, or other events. Due to Covid-19 we will absolutely make exceptions to this rule should any dancer feel any symptoms of sickness, in this case we would instead encourage students to stay home if they or anyone in their home has confirmed covid-19 or feels any symptoms of the virus. Virtual ongoing training will be encouraged for healthy students having to quarantine due contact with any persons with covid-19. All families will have to sign a Covid-19 specific agreement to attend classes at Just Be Dance Academy.
*If a dancer misses 3 or more choreography classes they may be subject to removal of one or more dances.
Code of Conduct
JBDA Company dancers and parents must agree to represent Just Be Dance Academy and our code of conduct when in the studio, on social media, and when out representing. Please see our Handbook for details. All company parents will sign off and agree to our standards and expectations. All company dancers and families are held to the highest standards of conduct. Gossip, Slander, Disrespect toward JBDA Staff or families will be grounds for immediate dismissal.
We are creating a new program to encourage our dancers to “Be the Change” by offering opportunities to give back, be a positive influencer in their schools and community, and challenges to make a positive change in our world today. Each month we will spotlight our Just Be Community Star and will honor them in a very special way!
To ensure the smooth, safe running of Just Be Dance Academy and an enjoyable experience by all, below you will find our code of conduct. As always, we are open to feedback, so if any of the requirements outlined below are unclear or concerning, please give us a call to discuss further. Following a formal meeting, we do reserve the right to dismiss or take disciplinary action on any students or parents who breach our studio’s code of conduct.
Families who do not comply with their fee or costume payment obligations may be charged a late fee, and/or excluded from performances. External debt collection may occur when fees remain overdue, and this will be at the expense of the client. Costume expenses are the responsibility of the parent, and costumes will not be issued to students with unpaid class fees.
No classes (including private lessons) or teachers are to be disturbed unless it is an emergency. Parents are not to approach teachers or students during class and if messages or food/drink/medication needs to be passed on to a student, it must be done through a Just Be Dance Academy staff member. All parents must wait in the waiting areas or outside of the studios until classes have been dismissed.
We are unable to take responsibility for our students before or after their scheduled classes and it is the responsibility of the parent to ensure their child is picked up and dropped off on time. In the case of an emergency or unavoidable delay, please contact the studio immediately to inform us of the situation so we can keep your child calm and safe until they can be collected.
Any questions or complaints must go through reception – parents and students are not permitted to contact Just Be Dance Academy teachers via phone, in person, or via email / social networking with studio issues unless it has been broached with the principal first. Personal meetings with the studio principal can happily be arranged via reception.
In the exceedingly rare case of a parent or student showing disrespect or defamation to any parent, staff member or student, a meeting will be called immediately, and dismissal may be considered at the discretion of the principal. Physical, mental, emotional, or cyber bullying by parents, staff or students will not be tolerated and may result in dismissal from the studio.
Just Be Dance Academy takes no responsibility for any stolen or misplaced property on the studio premises and we encourage our families to avoid bringing valuable items into the studio where possible.
Just Be Dance Academy management reserves the right to change teachers or timetabling, when necessary, at any time throughout the year. Choreography, costuming, and studio policies remain the intellectual property of Just Be Dance Academy and may not be reproduced or sold by any students, parents or staff without permission of the director.
Drop Fee: A Drop Fee of $150 will be issued for any company dancer that drops out once the season begins. Sickness/Emergencies will not incur a drop fee.

Rehearsals take place on Sundays mid-Oct thru mid- Nov. Show day will be before Thanksgiving!
Fort Mill and Indian Land Christmas Parade/Local community performances: TBD (Required)
Conventions: Optional (Drop Fee will be incurred if you drop out less than 45 days in advance)

Covid-19 Policy and Procedure
For Just Be Dance Academy to operate safely during these times, we ask that all dancers (please review the basics with your child), family members, and staff always adhere to the following:

*Self-isolation: If you are sick or have been in contact with anyone Covid-19 positive. Follow CDC guidelines for self or family isolation.
*STOP! Please see below CDC picture. If your child is experiencing any of those symptoms outlined, please keep them home. If it is a mild mild cold or allergy, please wear a mask. We will have virtual classes and make-up classes your child can take advantage of.
*Masks or Face coverings are recommended for 5- adult when in common areas and lobby and when distancing of 6ft or more is not an option.
*Exceptions to masks or face coverings: Medical condition, ages 5 and under and *all ages while dancing. Staff is always required to wear masks. Always cover mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of tissue and wash hands after.
*Practice Social Distancing of at least 6ft or more.
*Wash Hands Frequently. Before leaving home, after eating, before and after classes.
*Cleaning and Disinfecting: All staff will commit to excessive cleaning practices. All surfaces will be cleaned before each new class enters these areas include ballet barres, mats, equipment’s, doors, bathrooms, and studio floors. All studios will have proper air circulation, extra HEPA filter purifying and filtering. Just Be Dance will use a natural anti-microbial/anti-bacterial concentrated mist and wipes.
*Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth as much as possible. Parents please remind and discuss the importance with your child. Staff will remind children with fun and memorable quotes and rhymes.
*Avoid sharing props or other equipment or disinfect between use.
*Lobby: At this time, our lobby will open but with limited capacity. This will be subject to change at any time. Parents/Guardians will drop off and remain in their car or return on time for car line pick up. It is imperative children are picked up ON time to assist in smooth and effective transitions.
*Staggered times: To eliminate cross traffic and maintain social distancing, Just Be Dance has created a schedule that is staggered for each studio space and allows time for cleaning between classes.
*Temperature Checks: Dependent on a few factors. We will either advise parents to take their child’s temperature and sign an acknowledgement or Just Be Dance Academy staff will take temperatures at the door before entering class. Students that have a temperature or had a temperature in the past 48 hours of 100.0 or higher may not be permitted to attend in-person classes.
*Sanitize stations: All families, students and staff must sanitize their hands before entering and exiting the classroom. If anyone should have a skin allergy or aversion to hand sanitizer, we ask you wash hands often and thoroughly in place of sanitizing.
*Water: There will be no access to water fountains. Dancers can bring their own water bottles.
*Dance Bags and Attire: Please wash and wipe down often. Each dancer will have a designated spot, spaced out 6ft each, to place their dance bags. We encourage dancers to only wear their dance shoes during dance class then wipe and place in their bags after. Please have a separate clean pair of shoes to enter and exit the building.
*Studio spacing and capacity: Each studio has been carefully marked and spaced for each student to dance in their own space. We will still encourage fun ways to connect and socialize with the distance between.
*Schedule: Just Be Dance has taken extra precautions in scheduling to ensure safety. Small class sizes, staggered start times, and extra time allotted for cleaning and disinfecting.
*Quarantine plane: Should a student need to miss classes due to exposure or thought of exposure, Just Be Dance Academy will provide unlimited virtual class options or make-up classes. Please review our Self-Isolate/ quarantine protocol photos on our website.
